okay, guys, i knew you loved squee and secret society, but i had no idea you loved us this much.
thats right... we are on our way to psytrance platinum because of your help...
so far, because of my friends mad support, we have sold a whopping 15 copies of the Up-sidedownwaysable EP, an exciting 1/66,666.6666666 of 1 million copies. I never thought we would be so close, and on our first EP too... wow. I mean, if we can sell 15 copies in 4 months, think what we could do in 6,000 years... at that pace we would sell 270,000 copies by the year 8008, and that is just amazing.
so, i guess what i am trying to say is, like i said before... if you like psytrance, and you wanna hear some that is a little different, a little more local, and a little more squee-filled than the other psytrance in the world, then maybe you should buy yourself an EP. K'mon guys, they are only 5$, and you are getting 4 tracks that we put a lot of soul and even more heart into.

Fri, February 15, 2008 - 2:17 PM15 downloads in four months? Some of the releases I promote on my site get 2,000 times that many downloads in as much time. But this is the thing... when you're a new artist you should be weighing your options... and the potential benefit of a free promotional release as opposed to a commercial one is immense. I mean, really immense! You have to build a name before you can expect to sell anything in this culture of extreme abundance. -

Sun, February 17, 2008 - 12:58 PMIt also really depends on how the label that you release on promotes their artists. It's definitely important to promote yourself, but also the label that releases that material needs to be on the forefront with their promotion. To be honest I never even really saw any actual promotion from the label for your ep. Of course when you're getting your first releases out the amount of people who know about it are going to be limited, but you just need some patience and to continue writing and releasing music. The first tracks that were for download that I made only got downloaded from the site that sold it maybe about 30 times, however I saw those tracks come out on pirated compilations and that comp got downloaded several thousand. So maybe setting up a bootleg comp with you and your friends that are up and coming for download might be a good idea. I wonder if the brainforest recs guys are still around?
Anyway, you can be an incredibly talented artist, but if your promotions skills are lacking, then you need to have one of your friends do some promotion for you. What I did was by being active on webforums like isratrance and whatnot. I didn't really heavily promote my music there, but since people were used to seeing my name and reading my comments, it kept people remembering my name once my stuff started getting released... I never expect to really make any money doing this, but if you want your music to reach people, sometimes you have to do a bit more than just make it too. -
