Hello darkpsy-lovers! I've just recently started to make music. I use Reason 4 and pretty much the all built in sounds except for kick, bass and voice-samples. Here's some of my recent work: www.myspace.com/cykodj

Tell me what you think. :)

Happy new years!

I've got a preview up of a new song. It's not mastered or anything, so it's sounds pretty diffrent now (much better). Made in Ableton Live 7.

      Thank you! :)

dude honestly, i am no pro but i will try to give some constructive feedback here...
your last 2 songs are nice, but when I hear them on my dynaudio's it sounds like I am listening to them inside a club already, like the low frequencies are echoing a bit. not so much on the previous one, but this last one is a bit muddy.
I am also learning so maybe im not explaining it properly...
but in "rave baby", it is just right. the low freqs are crisp and bassy without sounding like I am hearing them inside a dancehall or maybe that is the sound you are going for. but imagine how they will sound inside the club... it will be double the bassy reverb!

do you know about isratrance.com? forum.isratrance.com/forum-e...reation/
that place is more alive than here.
maybe you will get better feedback there.
      :)

I think you've got a point! :) The bass sounds very fat in my speakers, but yeah, with even bigger speakers in a club or something, i wouldn't be suprised if it sounded like crap. :)

I'm working on a new song now, and i think i'm gonna skip the previous one and work on this new instead. I changed the bass to be more crisp, and the result so far is really good! I'll let you know when the track is done so you can listen. :)

And i'll check out that forum! :) Thanks for the link, and thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it! :)

well it's not only the size of the speakers...
it's also the natural reverb of the space... like inside clubs where the bass will bounce back and forth against the walls and so music that has reverby low freqs like those previous two songs (your latest track is fine, btw)... will just be drowning in bass.

          do you have monitors?

now this new track of yours ...the low freqs definitely sound cleaner.
The kick and bass really go together.
like they're making love. I heard someone say once that a good a psytrance bassline is when "the kick and bass are making love with each other"
          XD

Well thanks for listening to my advice I know you must be wondering how should I know what I am talking about, when I don't even have any music to show others.
All i can say is that I am listening from a decent pair of monitors that many people in the psytrance scene trust to be accurate.
          :)

Anyway, I should have my first track completed in a month if I can just get it together... I actually should have like 4 or 5 but i'm slow and I keep getting distracted and bouncing from one track to the next.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense! :) Thanks for saying that before it was too late! Haha! :)

Nope, i don't have monitors. I just have a pretty regular/cheap pair of 2.1-speakers and cheap Sennheiser HD 201 headphones. :(

And thanks! :D lol, yeah, thats a good word for it! "Making love". Hahaha.

Great! Can't wait for your track!

And also! My new song is complete! I made the bass and kick even more clear and crisp while mastering it, so it sounds really good now! :)

sounds good, cyko!...pretty impressive for mixing without monitors.
i like all the subdued sounds throughout the track. and the break into ambience around 5:00... I have a little trouble hearing the voice in the beginning because it kind of competes with the pad maybe some eq'ing here?
I like the song, although it doesn't seem finished, but knowing you so far you are probably already working on a new track! That's what I would do... just polish it up later while working on other songs.
              :)

don't wait , because you might be old by the time you hear it.
I wish I had your work ethic when it comes to making music.
              :)
