            I was wondering the same. :-) And why does almost every track have the same goddamn basedrum rythm? This dreaded "DOOF daga daga daga DOOF daga daga daga DOOF daga daga daga". I hope variation and creativity have increased since those mixes were made. Nice tracks in and of itself, but it becomes a bit monotone after the third one.

              DarkPsy is a myth anyway. Free yourself from bondage and categorization.
              Quit looking towards a label for self-assurance that what you do is good.
              Psytrance is psytrance. If people dance, that's all that matters.
              Listen, mix, dance. End of story.

                No not towards you, I was just replying to Mateo. Categories are there to make a bit of sense about things. And to know what you're talking about. What is called darkpsy just doesn't really sound dark, doesn't make it better or worse, it's just what I notice.

                  Not to mention that what "full-on" is now was "dark" a few years back. I remember throwing down GMS - Juice and Mumbojumbo - Weird, Strange, Sick, Twisted years ago and people were like. Wow, that's some dark stuff. Now it's considered "full-on". The problem with labels is that it's all speculative. What one considers dark may not be. What is progressive, may not be at all.

                  Dark? Light? It's all speculative. Which is why I say that it's a myth.

    Note to DJs: Put your email or at least your DJ names in your ID3 or DJ name in the mix name so absent minded promoters can remember who has this kickass mix they are listening to :P

        Good idea on the id tags. I forget details like that sometimes. I am glad my mix took you places while you danced home. You put a great picture in my mind. The track list is further up on this post. Those artists are amazing. I hope to make music that creative someday. Blessings.

              cool, just logged on to ask the same question. I saw the link posted for a mix in a previous message, but had a problem downloading it (I think it was the Hydro mix). Thanks guys! I live in Budapest now (originally from L.A.), don't yet have my own net connection, and my friends computer settings are a little wack. Hopefully I can get a mix or two from the links posted.
              BTW - If anyone plans to come to Europe next year, check out the Ozora fest in Hungary. Last summer's was amazing. Not as much dark psy as I like there, but Para Halu's set was off the map!

        Thanks Johnny... I can honestly say that they are not all "dark" but more of a progression... I'm working on a new one right now starting off with some really dark IDM/Glitch stuff and working into some really broody and dark (dare I say, industrial) sounding psy.... I just finished the mix, but I didn't like how it came out (got too drunk towards the end, made stupid mistakes). So I may have to do it again...

        Be on the lookout though...

        Whassup fellow tribe junkies!! I just recorded a brand spankin new Hidro-Ponik dj mix that includes some of my favorite tracks of the moment. The style ranges from totally nuts to groovy-drippy-trippy dancefloor smashers somewhere in the neighborhood of 148 BPM's. It was recorded on August 02, 2008 at PsyCircle Studios in San Diego, California.
